Our story, born from a passion for custom design
Founded in Brussels in 2012 by Sébastien Boucquey, who was soon joined by Olivier Doré.
With over 450 projects completed, a showroom in Châtelain and a carpentry workshop in Braine-l’Alleud, JOA supports individuals and professionals from design to installation.
2012: The birth of JOA
Their collaboration stems from a professional meeting in Vienna, a city marked by the Viennese Secession, a foundational artistic influence for the brand.
The first year was entirely dedicated to building the project. A comprehensive approach, from design to installation, allowed for the refinement of innovative systems and the laying of foundations for a strong identity. It was in this crucible that the curve emerged as JOA’s signature — a fluid response to the often strict and angular environments of contemporary architecture.
In 2013, JOA opened its first showroom in Molenbeek and participated in Batibouw. The range was expanded with iconic systems: Pô, Up, OlmO, and Curve.
2016–2025: A brand that establishes and expands
In 2016, JOA moved to Uccle, on Rue Vanderkindere, into a more visible showroom. This also marked the arrival of Florent, the first employee and industrial designer. The clientele was primarily from Brussels at the time, but the ambition took shape: to extend the brand’s reach to Flanders, Wallonia, and France.
In 2018, the showroom joined the MIEU concept store in Schaerbeek, specializing in European-made decoration and furniture. The design team expanded with the arrival of Mélissa.
2020 marked a pivotal turning point: a fundraising round enabled accelerated development.
On January 1, 2021, the JOA carpentry workshop opened its doors in Braine-l’Alleud. The objective: to internalize wood production for better quality, control over deadlines, and a stronger link between design and manufacturing. Expert carpenters joined the venture.
In 2025, the showroom will move to Châtelain in Brussels. A new chapter, the same high standards.
