What is the difference between Dekton® and Silestone®? +
These two custom mineral surfaces are manufactured by the same producer, Cosentino, but serve different purposes. Dekton® is an ultracompact surface with extreme technical performance: it resists direct heat, UV rays, and the most violent impacts. Silestone®, composed of natural quartz, focuses more on aesthetics with realistic veining, very rich decors, and a surface with enhanced hygienic properties.
Are these materials truly resistant to heat and scratches? +
Dekton® offers exceptional heat resistance: you can place hot pans or dishes straight from the oven directly on it without risk of marking or deterioration. Silestone® is also very resistant to scratches and everyday stains, thanks to its natural hardness. In both cases, these materials are designed for intensive use, making them particularly suitable choices for frequently used kitchens.
How do you maintain a custom mineral surface? +
This is one of the great advantages of these materials: maintenance is minimal. A simple damp cloth or a mild cleaning product is sufficient for common dirt. The non-porous surface of Dekton® and Silestone® does not retain stains or bacteria, which significantly facilitates daily hygiene. Avoid abrasive or highly acidic products that could dull the finish in the long term.
Can a custom mineral surface be used in the bathroom? +
Absolutely. Mineral surfaces are perfectly suited for the bathroom: their resistance to humidity, cosmetic products, and temperature variations makes them ideal materials for countertops. Their mineral appearance naturally fits in with current contemporary bathroom trends, featuring veining that imitates marble or natural stone with incomparable ease of maintenance.
Can I choose my color, texture, and finish? +
Yes, the choice is very wide. Both Dekton® and Silestone® offer numerous collections with varied colors, textures, and finishes — matte, polished, satin, concrete effect, marble effect, stone effect. At JOA, we guide you in the selection based on your interior style, the desired ambiance, and the technical constraints of your project. Samples are available to help you visualize the final look in your space.
