During the discovery meeting in our showroom, Gilles had the pleasure of discovering our world and our approach. He liked the mix of wood and metal, as well as the curves. He came with a few photos and general dimensions of his current living room, as well as a wish list for his custom bookcase project.
By discussing her expectations, we were able to identify the importance of a warm atmosphere that reflects her personality while incorporating practical elements.
A study to develop your unique creation
In conclusion, the creation of this bespoke bookcase is the result of a successful collaboration between Gilles and our team. Every detail has been thought through to create not just a piece of furniture, but a living space.

“We were looking for a bookcase that could integrate our living room, that could fill the entire wall section. And a bookcase into which we could also integrate a desk.”
In Gilles’ case, we quickly realized that the space hadn’t been used to its full potential since the completion of their renovation. It seemed logical to us to make the atmosphere of the room warmer and more convivial. The main feature requests were to integrate a bookcase that could hold lots of books, a side desk that could be hidden away, and drawers for storage.
By analyzing the space, we came up with smart storage solutions that save space while adding unique style.
Throughout our discussions, Gilles expressed an interest in our bookcases, with a predominance of wood and anthracite metal uprights. The idea was to contrast with the white wall and large bay window, and thus achieve a warm, contemporary look in keeping with the rest of their home. This choice of materials made it possible to consider finishes that add a touch of elegance and modernity to the whole.
At the end of the study phase, here’s the project that was selected and refined following our discussions with a view to validation for production. This project is part of a co-creation process, in which every one of Gilles’ ideas was taken into account to design a library that truly reflects his personality.
“We were seduced by the fact that many of our pre-project expectations had been met. “

A bespoke library with a lively, dynamic design
Our interior designer Mélissa’s approach was to create a balance between open and closed volumes. The look of this bespoke bookcase is horizontal rather than vertical, perfectly encompassing the walls on either side.
Not least thanks to the prominent curve on the left-hand side, which encompasses the corner and makes the space more welcoming. By adding modular shelving, we were able to adapt to the changing needs of Gilles and his family.
The steel Y-pillars also underline the dynamic aesthetics of the bespoke bookcase, thanks to their random, structural positioning. This structure not only provides a solid base, but also a visually appealing element that adds character to the whole. The choice of colors and finishes was carefully selected to complement the overall ambience desired by Gilles.
“Very quickly, we were seduced by the fluid lines, by the materials they used, wood and metal.”
Aesthetic and functional options
At their request, a magnetic screen cover was integrated into the unit. The idea was to be able to remove it while working, but to be hidden away once the day’s work was done. The result is a fully-fledged bookcase, where the presence of any screen is a thing of the past. By integrating solutions like this one, we’ve improved functionality while preserving the aesthetics of the space.
“It was really the interpretation of our needs and desires that was done, first hard plans and then realized here in our living room.”
