Designing a bathroom can be a challenge for some people. These small living spaces are often complex to structure, which is why it’s a good idea to use custom-made bathroom furniture to solve any space-saving problems.
Whether it’s a question of atypical architecture, technical constraints or lack of space, creativity is often required to harmonize this water feature.
Indeed, transforming this intimate space into a pleasant and functional one is often a challenge. At JOA, we’ve been faced with a multitude of projects where the creation of a bespoke bathroom cabinet has truly revealed the room’s potential.
In this article, discover four distinct projects, each with its own specific features, that illustrate the added value of a bespoke bathroom cabinet by JOA.
Suspended vanity units for greater lightness
Suspended vanity units have become a common trend. While it visually lightens the space, it nevertheless requires a sufficiently structured wall to support its weight.
This type of made-to-measure bathroom furniture facilitates access to storage and, by being suspended, makes cleaning easier while avoiding water damage at the bottom.
In this particular project, it was also used to enhance a difficult corner of the room. Sliding doors extend the unit along the wall, providing discreet yet functional storage. Small cupboards for bath flasks and accessories find their place here.
A large mirror, set at an angle to the cabinet, cleverly conceals the wall corner. Recessed LED strips diffuse a soft, effective light that never dazzles.
A clever family bathroom
When it comes to a family bathroom, a simple vanity isn’t enough. The space must be designed to facilitate circulation and increase storage space, while remaining functional.
In this project, the owners wanted to integrate a dirty laundry hatch leading directly into the lower-level laundry room, an unusual request, but one that could be perfectly custom-made.
So we designed a warm, spacious custom bathroom cabinet, taking advantage of a wall niche to house the trapdoor. But we didn’t stop there: our designers came up with a second piece of furniture incorporating a Canva screen to create a more intimate space.
With the front door facing the basin, this screen visually divides the room without blocking the light. A mirror has been cleverly integrated, offering the customer a full view of herself, in continuity with that of the basin. Tailor-made down to the smallest detail.

Minimalist vanity units in the attic bathroom
Each project is unique. Where some seek maximum storage, others prefer the purity and serenity of minimalist design.
In this attic bathroom, the slope of the roof imposed a strong presence in the space. To counterbalance this effect, we opted for a lightweight vanity unit with horizontal lines. Its design visually stretches the room and directs the eye.
A slender steel base elegantly supports the worktop, from which two large drawers are suspended. The whole remains airy and perfectly functional.
A made-to-measure mirror, inclined according to the slope, captures natural light and visually amplifies the volume. A simple project, but thought through to the last detail.
A one-of-a-kind custom bathroom cabinet
And then there are the unusual projects. Those that push us to break with convention and totally rethink the space. This is one of them.
Here, there was no question of installing a vanity unit against a wall. The room offered an unobstructed view of the surrounding nature, an invitation to reinvent its use.
Rather than turn our backs on this landscape, we came up with an atypical bespoke bathroom cabinet with contemporary styling and clean lines, designed to blend in without dominating the space.
A worktop mounted on a wooden base discreetly hides the technical networks. Two washbasins and three steel drawers provide the essentials for everyday life.
This time, the mirror is small, pivoting and designed to be shared. But that’s not the point: users wash their faces facing nature, not their reflection. A unique sensory experience, made possible thanks to customization.
