Slowly, we can feel the days getting shorter and the air turning cooler. Some are already thinking about turning on the heating and cozying up next to their wood stove.
A soft blanket, a hot drink, and your winter cocoon corner is officially open! But before that, we’d love to inspire you with ideas on how to beautifully integrate your wood stove into your interior design.
Whether your stove is already installed or still in the planning stage, we’ve gathered plenty of ideas to help you make the most of it in your space. Drawing from our many projects, you’ll find clever ways to create a warm, inviting corner — the perfect spot to enjoy this source of heat all winter long.
Why heat with a wood-burning stove?
If you didn’t already know, wood heating produces less CO₂ than gas, oil, or electricity. Beyond being easy to install, a wood stove is an excellent heat source. When used as a supplemental heater, it can even delay turning on your main heating system during the mid-season.
What sets it apart from other heating systems is the unique atmosphere it creates warm, comforting, and inviting. It’s ideal for spaces meant to be shared and enjoyed together.
Of course, to achieve the desired effect, a few technical aspects need to be carefully considered. The placement of the flue pipes, for instance, is key in determining the best location for your stove. If possible, being able to distribute heat to multiple rooms is also a great advantage.
Once these technical details are sorted, it’s time to let creativity take over and design a harmonious setup. Here are some of our projects that have turned the fireplace corner into a practical, welcoming, and delightful living space.
A wood-burning stove integrated into a wall unit
If your goal is to better structure your space or create custom-built storage, we can design a partition unit that integrates your wood stove.
Take this project, for example, created for a couple who wanted to subtly divide their open, contemporary living area while maintaining a sense of flow and balance.

Thanks to the creation of this curved partition in the center of the room, we were able to integrate the wood stove seamlessly into the overall design. In this position, it has the advantage of spreading its warmth across a full 360° radius. This is also why we chose a rotating wood stove, which can be oriented to either side of the partition to direct heat where it’s most needed.
Along its length, the partition extends and transforms into practical storage spaces accessible from both sides. On one side, we designed a dedicated cloakroom area, while on the other, a TV corner was arranged to serve the living room.

And that’s not all!
Next to the wood stove, a small space has been cleverly designed to store firewood. A curved door subtly conceals this dedicated nook, keeping everything neat and accessible. The storage can be reached from both sides making it easy to bring in logs from one side and use them conveniently from the other.

It’s the comprehensive study of the project as a whole that made it possible to highlight all these bespoke design details each one carefully thought out to make daily life easier for the homeowners. A wide-ranging project that meets multiple functions.
Extending seating furniture with a wood-burning stove
Not every space allows for a centrally positioned wood stove. In many cases, it must be placed against a wall or near an existing fireplace. That doesn’t mean, however, that it can’t be beautifully integrated into a cohesive design.
For this project, created for a family in Brussels, we designed a complete concept for the main living area. One of the challenges was to create a consistent visual flow along a long wall that connects the dining area to the TV corner, with the wood stove seamlessly incorporated in between.

The idea was to integrate a wood stove into a single, continuous unit that combines a bench seat and a TV cabinet. On one side, the bench serves as seating for the dining table. Next comes a section with drawers, designed to visually and functionally divide the furniture where needed. This segment then curves into a semi-circular shape to accommodate the wood stove. The layout continues with a cabinet of the same height and visual identity, designed to house a soundbar and a projector.
Within this curved section dedicated to the stove, we added a metal sheet lining to protect the wood from heat. This subtle break in the design not only enhances the stove’s presence but also integrates it harmoniously into the overall composition.

Tailor-made wood-burning stove furnishings
Let’s continue exploring interior layouts centered around wood stoves. Often, we are asked to integrate bookshelves and TV cabinets around the fireplace. This isn’t surprising, as these elements naturally contribute to the cozy “cocoon” corner everyone desires during the coldest months.
For this specific project, the wood stove was positioned in a corner of the room. The advantage of this setup is that it allows us to optimize storage by extending furniture along the entire wall.
Here’s the context before our intervention:

The clients wanted ample space for their books, a large area for their TV, a cabinet to store their ash vacuum, and, most importantly, a small compartment for firewood. Their specific requests made calling on our expertise all the more meaningful. The solution proposed after our study included the following layout:
- A low cabinet to house the ash vacuum
- Shelves starting from the left corner to maximize storage space
- A more open central area for the TV
- A firewood rack along the side of the unit
The result after our installation speaks for itself.

The placement of the firewood rack also allowed us to incorporate a metal sheet lining to protect the wood from direct heat. Visually, it creates a subtle separation between the library corner and the fireplace area, achieved simply by playing with perspectives and different materials.

The result is a cohesive setup that meets our clients’ various needs while subtly integrating the wood stove into the overall design.

Designing a corner fireplace
For those who already have a defined fireplace location in their room, we can design furniture that complements and highlights it. Our creativity knows no bounds when it comes to creating a harmonious design.
If your fireplace already has a specific style, we can craft matching units on either side to maintain continuity. This way, the stove becomes part of a unified ensemble no more mismatched elements.

Furthermore, if you have a more contemporary fireplace or a built-in wood-burning stove, the design can be approached differently. For the following project, we conceptualized suspended cabinets. The elements interact with each other, all embracing a cubic form while serving distinct functions.

On one side, we have drawers, and on the other, an open block that can serve as a firewood rack. The suspended units and the use of metal sheets bring a sense of lightness, particularly with the upper shelves contrasting with the solid central panel. It’s an excellent way to create a complete, dynamic, and harmonious composition.

Whatever the layout or style of your fireplace corner, our creativity and expertise can provide truly unique solutions.
