We are featured in this spring’s issue of Pollen magazine (#36), showcasing a magnificent bespoke bookcase project recently completed for Pascale. Although she lives year-round in the South of France, she also has a pied-à-terre in Brussels, where she stays during her visits to the capital. This space, designed as a true cocoon, is for her a place of rejuvenation and serenity.

Un mobilier sculpté sur-mesure
“For this Brussels interior, JOA has designed a bespoke bookcase conceived as a space for storage, work and showcasing decorative objects.
Set back from the wall, it allows light to flow and breathes within the space. The curves and angles – JOA’s signature style – interact with slender, elegant steel uprights, arranged with controlled freedom.
The choice of materials reinforces the duality between structure and lightness. Solid wood brings natural warmth, whilst the steel uprights gently organise the space. Brass handles punctuate the whole with discreet elegance. At the heart of the composition: a desk. Positioned to the side of the window, it benefits from natural light well. The interplay of transparency opens up perspectives, offering different views depending on the time of day. The eye rests and finds peace.
Nothing is static; everything seems to be in motion, almost suspended. “I was looking for more than just a bookcase; I wanted a showcase for my travel memories, my moments of life, love and friendship. Joa understood this and brought it to life,” the client tells us.
The furniture embodies a controlled freedom, balancing softness and robustness, which transforms living spaces. With JOA, a soul is born.”
