Designing a bedroom

Our best bespoke bedroom design ideas

There’s nothing better than drifting off to bed after a long day. And to ensure a good night’s sleep, it’s a good idea to take a look at our tips for a bespoke bedroom. Even if this room has less furniture, it’s just as important to find the right configuration.
Whatever the size or shape of your bedroom, here are some of our best ideas for an optimal bespoke bedroom. But first, here are a few general rules to bear in mind when designing your bedroom.

A few basic rules

As is often the case in our articles, a few reminders of the concepts of Feng-Shui help to give some indications that are conducive to good energies. Their comprehensive approach refers as much to the positioning of furniture as to the colors used.

 1. Avoid placing the bed under a window. It’s better to place the headboard against a wall. Different access points, whether a door or a window, are areas to be avoided for your bed. It’s better to have a view to the outside.
   2. We often hear about the ideal bed orientation in relation to the points of the compass. The best thing, of course, is to test and choose what suits you best. But if a general rule were to be followed, the ideal would be to position the headboard to the east or north.
 3. As far as possible, keep the room as clutter-free as possible. Having a clean, tidy space helps to clear the clutter from your mind. Hence the idea of optimizing storage as much as possible and favoring closed volumes.
   4. When it comes to colors, opt for hues that invite relaxation. Blue and green hues are conducive to calm and serenity. On the other hand, avoid reds and oranges, which are too energizing for this room.
   5. To create a soothing bedroom, we recommend using as many natural materials as possible. These materials create a warm ambience and circulate energies.
   6. Dedicate as much of this room as possible to rest, and avoid electronic equipment. Computers, televisions and other screens will have to find a place elsewhere for the sake of your rest.

A made-to-measure bed for a bedroom

Now that you’ve got all the rules in your head, let’s get down to the nitty-gritty of how to integrate the various pieces of furniture in real-life situations. Let’s start with the main piece of furniture in a bedroom: the bed!
Once its position has been established according to Feng-Shui recommendations, consider the circulation around it. It’s important that everyone has easy access, preferably without stubbing their toe.
When space is at a premium, the advantage of creating a custom-made bed for a bedroom is the space saved by built-in storage.

Combined with a dressing room and various storage spaces under the bed, this bespoke bedroom nevertheless remains sober and spacious in terms of storage.
Naturally, when we create a bespoke bed, the bedside tables are harmoniously integrated to limit the amount of furniture. Whether it’s a shelf or a bedside table with storage, the result is greater practicality and overall space savings.

Integrating a dressing room into a bespoke bedroom

As mentioned above, the best way to design a bedroom is to avoid bulky furniture. While some people can afford to put the dressing room in another room dedicated to this purpose, this isn’t always possible for everyone.
In this case, creating a made-to-measure walk-in wardrobe can be a very useful way of ensuring optimal storage.

How do you achieve this? Where some of our competitors offer large, white, full-height closets devoid of charm, we offer curved dressings in warm materials. Whether your room is angular, sloping, narrow or has other constraints, we come up with solutions where ergonomics and functionality come first.

This under-slung dressing room has been designed with solid materials and natural shades to blend in with the room’s architecture and balance out the angular shapes thanks to the curved door. Here, once again, we can see the integration of the bedside table. The choice of size and colors coincides with the bed, a subtle touch.

A multifunctional headboard for a bespoke bedroom

Is a headboard always necessary? If your bed is against a wall, we’d tend to say no. However, this initially aesthetic element can prove useful in keeping your wall surface intact. We’ll also tell you that it’s an element that adds character to the room, hence our tendency to favor its presence.
If you need to integrate your dressing room into your bedroom, and the size of the room allows it, the headboard can suddenly be a functional asset as well as an aesthetic one.
Take the example of this project, where a dressing unit was integrated into the back of the headboard. The interface unit is then used for storage on both sides, dedicated to the bed on one side and the dressing complement on the other.

Curves are used both on the bed structure and on the furniture to soften angles and circulation. The result is a centerpiece for any room. A multifunctional, high-capacity piece of furniture for the pleasure of the eye and the comfort of everyday life. A great idea for a bespoke bedroom with multi-functionality.

The dressing table, a seductive little corner

It’s a great option for many, and with good reason: who hasn’t dreamed of having their own dressing table? This little piece of furniture first appeared in the 18th century, and is well known in the cinema.
Equipped with a few storage spaces, the dressing table looks like a small desk with a mirror on top. The wide work surface is perfect for all your beauty essentials. This piece of furniture is not exclusively reserved for dormitories. And yet, furnishing a bedroom with a dressing table adds a great deal of character to the room.
